On September 17th, 1972, Carrie and Gerald Thomase gave birth to Robert Thomas grew up in southern California, but during his teenage years, he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. During his high school career, Roberts best friend, Billy, was gay. Billy always got picked on and beaten up, but one day after school, Robert and Billy were suppose to go to a friends house together, but Billy didn't show. Robert went around town looking for Billy, he felt something was terribly wrong. When Robert stopped by at the park, he found Billy in a ditch, unconscious and not breathing. Billy was stabbed numerous times, and had a cross lay drawn on his forehead. Robert immediately called for help, but it was too late. Billy died that even.
Robert vowed that he would make a change about this. He feels discrimination needs to stop before the same thing that happened to Billy happens again. In 2004, Robert graduated from Nevada state. As soon as he graduated, he became mayor of Las Vegas, and ever since then, Las vegas has had a lower rate of crimes. Robert was chose to run for vice president with Patrick Queen. They both are fighting for no discrimination. They know it wont completely stop, but they believe with hard work and time, our nation will really change for the good of our society.
